Kundalini Activation – Scope of Practice, Contraindications, Confidentiality & Risk Disclosures

Informed disclosure, scope of practice, contraindications, confidentiality and safety advisories for Kundalini Activation sessions with Love and Light Ireland.

Important Notice:
Reading this page in full is required before booking or participating in any Kundalini Activation session. By proceeding with a booking, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted the information on this page, in addition to the separate wellbeing and consent form.

This page is provided for transparency and information only. Formal consent is obtained separately through a signed intake and consent form prior to participation in any in‑person or online Kundalini Activation session.

1. Practitioner and Scope of Practice

Kundalini Activation sessions are a complementary, experiential energy‑based practice involving energetic awareness, somatic presence, breath awareness, sound, music and guided attention. Sessions may involve light touch or no‑touch facilitation, always within clearly agreed boundaries.

This work is not medical, psychological, psychiatric, physiotherapy, counselling or any other regulated healthcare or psychotherapy treatment. No diagnosis, prescription or clinical intervention is provided, and no specific outcomes can be guaranteed.

2. Nature and Intended Purpose of the Service

Kundalini Activation is intended for personal exploration, spiritual development and general wellbeing. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical or psychological condition.

Participation is voluntary at all times. Clients remain fully responsible for their own physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellbeing before, during and after sessions, including obtaining appropriate medical or psychological support when needed.

3. Psychological Responsibility and Self-Assessment

Sessions may involve altered or non‑ordinary states of consciousness, emotional release and shifts in perception, which some people may experience as intense or challenging.

By booking, clients confirm that they are psychologically stable, capable of basic self‑regulation and able to seek professional support if required. The practitioner does not provide a clinical assessment of psychological suitability and relies on honest self‑disclosure via the wellbeing form and in conversation.

4. Medical and Psychological Disclosure

Clients must disclose all relevant physical, psychological, neurological or psychiatric conditions, current medications and any significant history (such as seizures, cardiovascular conditions, hospitalisations or trauma) prior to participation.

Failure to disclose relevant information may increase risk and can invalidate any assumption of safety. The practitioner may request written clearance from a GP, consultant or mental‑health professional before proceeding, or may decline or adapt sessions where appropriate.

5. Contraindications and Exclusions

For safety reasons, Kundalini Activation is generally not suitable in the following situations. If any of these apply to you, please do not book a session and seek advice from your GP or mental‑health professional instead. This list is indicative, not exhaustive.

  • Psychotic-spectrum and severe mental health conditions: current or past psychosis, schizophrenia, schizoaffective or delusional disorder; bipolar disorder with recent or current manic or hypomanic episodes; severe unstable depression with active suicidal thoughts, recent suicide attempt or recent self‑harm; dissociative disorders (e.g. DID, significant depersonalisation or derealisation); severe unstable anxiety, panic disorder or PTSD/complex trauma with frequent flashbacks, blackouts or loss of time.
  • Neurological and seizure-related conditions: epilepsy or any history of seizures or unexplained convulsions; history of frequent fainting, loss of consciousness or serious dysautonomia; significant brain injury, aneurysm or other serious neurological impairment without explicit written medical clearance.
  • Cardiovascular and serious medical conditions: significant heart disease, history of heart attack, serious arrhythmias or other cardiac conditions where emotional or physiological arousal may be unsafe; uncontrolled high or low blood pressure; serious systemic illness (for example severe autoimmune or endocrine conditions) where your doctor advises against intense experiential or stress‑inducing practices; advanced glaucoma or conditions where increased pressure or intensity may be harmful.
  • Pregnancy: pregnancy is generally considered a contraindication for strong Kundalini Activation, especially in the first and third trimester. Love and Light Ireland reserves the right to decline sessions during any stage of pregnancy as a precaution, even where a healthcare provider has given general clearance.
  • Substances, addiction and medications: active addiction to alcohol, recreational drugs or misuse of prescription medication; use of alcohol, recreational drugs or plant medicines on the day of the session; current use of certain psychotropic or mood‑stabilising medications (for example antipsychotics, some sedatives or complex combinations of psychiatric medicines) where a treating clinician advises against intense experiential work; any recent psychedelic or plant‑medicine ceremony where you still feel destabilised or ungrounded.
  • Recent psychiatric events or high-risk psychological states: psychiatric hospitalisation or crisis admission in the last 6–12 months; current involvement in acute crisis services or intensive psychiatric programmes; ongoing significant risk of harm to self or others, or strong impulses that feel difficult to control.
  • Lack of stability, support or capacity for self-regulation: very unstable life circumstances (such as active domestic violence, unsafe living situation or acute legal crisis); no access to any support (friends, family, GP, therapist or other professional support) for integration if challenging material arises; severe difficulty staying grounded in daily life, even without spiritual practices.
  • Other reasons to decline or defer sessions: current fever, acute infection or feeling physically unwell on the day of the session; recent surgery or serious injury where rest and medical follow‑up are the priority; any situation where your GP, consultant or mental‑health professional has advised against this type of work; or any circumstance in which the practitioner judges that participation would be unsafe, inappropriate or outside the scope of practice described here.

6. Potential Experiences and Risks

Experiences during or after a session may include involuntary movement (kriyas), emotional release, heat or cold sensations, tingling, imagery, memories, altered perception of time or body, and temporary discomfort or fatigue.

Potential risks include emotional distress, anxiety, confusion, insomnia, feeling ungrounded, temporary dissociation, resurfacing of unresolved memories and temporary nervous‑system dysregulation. Integration support with an appropriate professional is strongly recommended if difficult material arises.

7. Not a Substitute for Medical or Psychological Care

This work does not replace medical, psychiatric or psychological treatment, diagnosis or emergency care. Clients must continue any prescribed treatments and follow the advice of their healthcare providers.

In any crisis or emergency (including suicidal thoughts, severe distress or concerning physical symptoms), clients must contact emergency services or appropriate crisis supports immediately, rather than relying on the practitioner or this modality.

8. Confidentiality and Data Protection

All personal data provided in wellbeing forms, emails, messages and sessions is treated as confidential and managed in accordance with applicable data protection law, including GDPR.

Information may be shared only where you give explicit consent, where there is a legal obligation, or where there are serious concerns about immediate harm to you or others, in which case appropriate services may be contacted. Further details are outlined in the separate Privacy Policy.

9. Age Requirement

Participants must be 18 years or older for Kundalini Activation sessions, unless a specific written agreement is made with a parent or legal guardian for a suitably adapted service.

10. Remote and Online Sessions

For online sessions, clients are responsible for ensuring a safe, private environment, a stable internet connection and access to local emergency or support contacts if needed.

Clients agree not to join online sessions while driving, operating machinery, under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or in any context where altered states or emotional release could create risk.

11. Professional Standards and Ethical Practice

Love and Light Ireland operates to a high professional and ethical standard. All sessions are facilitated with care, respect, clear boundaries and client safety as a priority.

Sessions are conducted in a sober, professional manner. No illicit substances, plant medicines or mind‑altering substances are incorporated into sessions, and clients are not accepted under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Physical contact, where used, is minimal, respectful and consent‑based. The practitioner reserves the right to stop or refuse a session where participation is deemed unsafe or inappropriate.

12. Assumption of Risk, Release and Indemnity

By choosing to participate, clients acknowledge that they understand the nature of the work and potential risks and agree to take full responsibility for their own choices, health and wellbeing related to participation and integration.

Clients agree to fully indemnify, defend and hold harmless the practitioner, Love and Light Ireland, and any officers, agents, contractors, assistants or affiliates from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, proceedings, liabilities, damages, losses, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising directly or indirectly from their participation, conduct, representations or failure to disclose relevant information, except where such liability arises solely from gross negligence or wilful misconduct that cannot be excluded by law.

Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude or limit liability in ways that are not permitted by Irish law.

13. Governing Law and Acknowledgement

This policy and any related services are governed by the laws of Ireland. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.

By booking and signing the separate consent form, clients confirm that they have read this page in full, understand that Kundalini Activation is a complementary, non‑medical practice and accept full responsibility for their own wellbeing, decisions and integration process.
